An Unexpected Journey Begins This Advent

At Pembroke College, Oxford, during the summer session of 1928, a linguistics professor sat grading papers.  In one exam booklet, he came across a page that a student had left blank.  Accustomed to doodle whenever the opportunity arose, he scrawled a spontaneous sentence:

In a hole in the ground, there lived a hobbit…

From that single sentence came one of the best loved stories of all time.  It is filled with dark days, a foreboding menace lurking in the background, and hope found in unexpected places.

This Advent, Southdale will be exploring the themes of this story in light of the greatest story ever told.  The Hobbit echoes with themes like hope, love and peace, themes long associated with the season of Advent.  Join us at 10:30 am each Sunday morning from now until Christmas and get caught up in the adventure of a lifetime.
