Come Back to Church!

Back To Church Sunday, September 16, 2012Sunday, September 16, 2012

10:30 AM

Maybe you grew up in church, but fell out of the habit when you left home and went to school.

Maybe someone made you angry, and you never found a place to fit in again.

Maybe life has just been too busy and there have been to many other things to do on your weekends.

Or maybe no one ever invited you and you’ve never really gone to church before.

Whatever the reason for your absence, this fall is a great time to come back to church!

If you don’t already have a church home, we’d like to invite you to join us at Southdale for a very special Back to Church Sunday service on Sunday, September 16 at 10:30 am.

Schedule of Events:

  • 9:30 am; Sunday School Small Groups; Our church has small groups for every age group from nursery through Senior Adults.  Our helpful greeter team will help you find the right group for you. Come a little early and enjoy coffee and donuts in our Fellowship Hall before classes begin.
  • 10:30 am; Morning Worship; Join us in the main sanctuary for inspiring music and a timely message from God’s word.
  • 11:45 am;All-Church Cook Out; After church we hope you will stay and join us for lunch.  We’ll have the grills fired up to prepare hamburgers and hot dogs, and our church’s cooks will be bringing all sorts of dishes filled with their family specialties.  There is no cost, and there will be special activities for your kids  including a bounce house and horse and buggy rides.

What to Expect:

  • Our Small Groups focus on Bible Study and fellowship.  It’s a great chance to get to know others in a smaller setting, and a good way to dig deeper into how the Bible applies to every day life.
  • Our Worship Service features a variety of music rooted in the traditional hymns of the Christian faith blended with more modern music that celebrates our relationship with God.  Whether we’re singing a hymn from the 1600’s, a gospel song from the turn of last century, or a modern praise song written last year, we sing it all from a heart of joyful gratitude celebrating the goodness of our God.
  • Our Preaching is grounded firmly in God’s Holy Word.  Sermons are designed to explore and explain Biblical truth and consider how it applies to contemporary life.
  • Our People are friendly and passionate about their faith in Jesus Christ.  Many demonstrate their love for God by dressing in their very best, but there is no dress code.  On any given Sunday you’ll find some people at Southdale in every style of dress, from comfortable everyday wear, to corporate casual.  You’ll probably even see a few in suits and dresses. Come wearing whatever you’d like, there will be someone else there dressed like you.
  • Our children and teen ministries are committed to the safety of your children.  Our workers receive screening and abuse prevention training through the Ministry Safe program.  We offer Sunday School classes for all age groups including Children and Teens.  And we also offer nursery services and Children’s Church for kids from birth through 6th grade during morning worship.
